These days we are surrounded by photographic images – on posters, in magazines, in social media and so on. Making the right impression is becoming increasingly important. I can help you with this whether it is for your personal profile, headshots for actors or family images for the home.

I have over 25 years experience as a photographer and I am trained and experienced in the use of high specification camera equipment, lighting using available light, flash and studio lighting, and editing software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, to get the best out of your photos.

I am a great believer in continuing training and development to keep things fresh and to keep up with new ideas and developments. I have trained with Damien Lovegrove, John Denton, Mark Cleghorn, R. Cleveland Aaron and Damian McGillicuddy and I have been on a number of courses at the CityLit including Photographing the Performance with Conrad Blakemore. My work is regularly published in magazines, newspapers, programmes and corporate publications.

My first love is theatre photography where I can provide a wide range of support  ranging from poster/programme photography, rehearsal and production photography, front of house, publicity and actors’ head-shots. I am the production photographer for a number of theatre companies and my pictures regularly appear in theatres, the theatre press and in theatre programmes.

I also enjoy fashion photography which allows for considerable creativity and teamwork with models, stylists and make-up artists. I also do a lot of commercial portrait and location photography for such things as Annual Reports and corporate websites, but I can turn my hand to most forms of photography. I offer studio or location shoots, and with my portable studio I can create studio quality shots in your own home, office or at your function.

I am a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts as well as a member of a number of professional photographic bodies including the Royal Photographic Society, I am also an Associate Member of The Photographers’ Gallery in London and until recently a member of management committee of The Camera Club, one of the oldest camera clubs in the world

I hold an advances DBS Certificate.

“We had the privilege of working with creative photographer David Ovenden on a very interesting concept for our swimwear shoot – ‘Alice in Wonderland: The Tea Party’. Cue the pretty (& scrumptious) cupcakes, glass-conservatory tea room, picturesque rose garden and lots of frilly bikinis!! We had a ball doing the shoot and look forward to shooting with David in the future.”  Mouille Swimwear

“Thank you for your amazing photographs! We’re just uploading and sharing them now.” Mercury Musical Developments
